Dear Parishioners,
I have received many emails and phone calls asking if we will be opening up the Churches for worship. These came after the County of Santa Clara Health Department announced that the County is now in the “Orange Tier” meaning that places of Worship are allowed to have indoor gatherings of up to 25% of the facility’s capacity or 100 People, whichever is less.
Our plan is not to rush into reopening our Church doors, but rather begin slowly and incrementally as we want to make sure that everyone who attends Mass will have a safe and sacred encounter with Christ. So please bear with us as we work through the changes needed to adjust to the new County rules and regulations.
We are following the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) guidelines in safely cleaning and disinfecting our facility (Church). We have purchased two Clorox Total 360 Electrostatic Sprayers that will be used to disinfect the church after each celebration.
Some parishioners have told me that they do not feel comfortable going back indoors yet. For that reason we are working on new schedules that will retain one or more outdoor Masses
In this regard, the Mass schedule for this coming weekend and next week has been updated as follows:
-
- Sunday Mass Schedule: No change. All Masses are outdoors as usual.
- Daily Mass Schedule: Beginning Monday, October 19th, the early morning Mass will be held indoors at St. Nicholas Church beginning at 8AM. The 12:10PM Mass will continue to be celebrated outdoors in the St. Nicholas Courtyard.
Please stay tuned for new indoor and outdoor Mass schedule updates as we slowly and safely begin to move back indoors over the coming weeks.
Even though I would love to see everyone attend our indoor / outdoor Masses, I remind those who are at risk or ill that the general dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains in effect for all Catholics in the Diocese of San Jose until further notice.
Peace in Christ,
Fr. John
