Inspired by Pope Francis’ 2015 letter on the care of creation and principles of Catholic Social Teaching, the Green Team seeks ways to save energy, manage waste, and consume less. Past projects include new waste bins for compost, recycle, and landfill, and drought-resistant landscaping. If you would like to participate in these efforts contact Karen Shea-Daley at [email protected]
We replaced the strip of lawn along El Monte on the St. William campus with colorful, drought-tolerant, low maintenance plants to conserve water, save money, and add beauty. The project was conceived by the Green Team and supported by Fr. John and the staff.
The project is one way that we are caring for creation, as Pope Francis has encouraged in his encyclical, Laudato Si’. Click below to find out all the details of this project , including a complete list of plants.
