What is a Jubilee Year?
A Jubilee is a special year of prayer. It is a part of the Catholic tradition and is a time for forgiveness, reconciliation, and pilgrimage. Jubilees ordinarily take place every twenty-five years.
During the Jubilee Year 2025, Pope Francis calls on all the faithful to become Pilgrims of Hope. The Jubilee Year begins when Pope Francis opens the Holy Doors at St. Peter’s Basilica on December 24, 2024. The doors will remain open until the end of the Jubilee Year on January 6, 2026. During the Jubilee, the faithful are encouraged to participate by going on pilgrimage to Rome or locations in our diocese to be announced.
